Scottsdale’s Hazardous Waste Collection: +17 Tons in 1 day

Some 800 vehicles dropped off more than 17 tons of hazardous waste Jan. 10 at the city’s Corporation Yard during the first hazardous waste collection day of the year.
The event generated three-quarters of a ton of pesticides, 1.5 tons of batteries and the equivalent of 32 55-gallon barrels of paint.

Since November 2000, Scottsdale’s hazardous waste collection events have processed 389 tons of toxic and/or hazardous waste residents have brought in from their garages, sheds and from under their kitchen sinks.
